Poem from Nomad

I spent my first few weeks in Africa traveling with a wonderful group with Nomad Africa Adventure Tours through Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. As great as the countries are, this amazing group of people really made the trip. Linda wrote a lovely poem that I think perfectly sums up our wonderful little group!

It was 2016 when I decided to flee
To Africa, which is far, far over the sea
In Vic Falls, to join Brenda our truck,
I  had chosen Nomad, just by luck.

First meeting Gift, Master Chef Supreme
Our wonderful leader, what a dream!
Creative stories, he told us each night
Filling us all with such hilarious delight

Let’s not forget Alphonse, our driver, with flair
Brai Master, tall, cool and so incredibly debonair
Driving us safely for each and every mile
At the end of a day, ready with his quiet smile

Helmut and Bronwyn, from Melbourne they came
Excellent traveling companions just the same.
Helmut, worldly-wise, to learn more, he’s very keen
Bronwyn, now she is  the brilliant bargaining queen

Katya, American, full of fun, both day and night
Even jumped out of a plane much to her delight
Escaping from home to travel  the world
A dancing queen, she twisted and twirled

Marcel and Julia, from Germany, they came
Enthusiastic and excited at seeing live game
Marcel, keen to capture it in photos galore
Julia sitting back, just waiting for more

Let’s not forget from England, our Gentleman Jim
Who always carries his camera with him.
Capturing his adventures each and every day
And Educating us, with bird knowledge on the way

Norwegian Aashild,  purple and pink she  loves to wear
Always looking funky in her traveling gear
Warm, sincere and  never alarming,
She is nothing but perfectly charming

Now Jodi, is an Aussie, a real true blue
In the truck spent time just enjoying the view
Always ready and keen for a beer
And always full of such good cheer

Young Robbie loves a beer and a chat
Never does he think about this or  that
Always ready for action and lots of fun
Think he will become a high-flying gun!

Joao, our young man who comes from Brazil
Who enjoys parachuting, it gave him a thrill
With camera in hand he captures many a scene
He is chilled, cool and thoughtful – never mean

Another bird lover is our American Chris
Enjoying all the fun and enjoying the bliss!
Out in the front on any walking trip

Dad’s dream fulfilled, it’s the fantastic UK family
Those awesome boys and  their exuberant energy
Even though they were rather a noisy crowd
We loved them – their parents should be very proud

Now how could I forget Elke and Martin
Remember the two who took an early departin’
Friendly and warm they left us in Windhoek
Off to explore in their rental car, they took

And me (Linda), –  a Kiwi , young at heart that is me
I’ve  thoroughly enjoyed all your company
It has been fun, full  of laughter; what a ride!
You’ll never forget me when you go home to reside
