In northern Myanmar, Inle Lake is nestled in the mountains near Nyaungshwe. The town is fun to grab a bike and tour around. Stop and have lunch at Bamboo Hut and then end the day at the winery at Red Mountain Estate. The wine is terrible but the views are amazing!
There’s a floating village on the lake that you can tour for the day and have lunch with a local family. After lunch, the ladies painted Thanakha on me made from bark that women paint on themselves for sun protection.
The cooking class at Bamboo Delight was one of my favorite things. The lovely couple that runs the place are fabulous cooks. They took us on a tour of the local market to buy ingredients for a variety of Burmese dishes. All of the food we made was delicious! They also donate a portion of the proceeds from the cooking class to their charity that provides education to local kids that can’t afford it.
